Summer outdoor thermal benchmarks in Melbourne: Applications of different techniques

In urban planning, sustainability is often synonymous to livability. Urban livability seeks improve living conditions of current and future outdoor users hence it has become a key priority for cities authorities. Melbourne, as the world second most livable city, sets out its life quality through various policies initiatives. One area improvement creation sustainable spaces that provides comfortable thermal residents. The relevant strategies create such are supported by knowledge human comfort requirements, particularly during summer conditions. Hence, this study aims develop comprehensive benchmarks Melbourne summer. This builds on 4717 subjective survey responses collected in seven environments with different settings. Data collection was performed Melbourne's from 2012 2015. Physiological Equivalent Temperature (PET) used predict results were based four measures (neutral temperature, preferred acceptable range range). analysis' outcomes suggested between 11.3 °C 20.3 °C, temperature value 21.5 neutral 16.1 °C.
